The History of a Silent War


Since the dawn of time a silent war has been fought. A war between humans, the so called ‘dominant race, and every other godforsaken creature alive, I’m not talking about the animals we watch lovingly on our TV’s and fight day in day out to protect. I’m talking about the things of nightmares and dreams. Creatures we see as children and rush to tell our parents about only to be told they are nothing more than a ‘figment of our imagination’....


As the human race grew and expanded, discovering new technologies, building forests of concrete, the creatures our world so desperately need to keep the balance have been pushed further and further afield, forced to inhabit only the remote areas and even those areas are slowly being encroached upon. Hundreds, maybe even thousands of what we call ‘supernatural’s’ have died. Some species have been wiped out. Civilisation has forgotten about these creatures, living in their safe polluted bubbles.

Some have thrived, skulking in the shadows, their human form giving them some respite, but the vampires and lycans are growing restless, fed up of being forced t live in secret for fear of dying, being killed by those who still know they exist.

There are those that will protect these creatures, offering them safety and helping them survive the struggles of day to day life. Privately funded and continuously running into problems, the Guardians, do their upmost to fight for equal rights for these creatures, though their shouts and pleas fall upon deaf ears.

There are those that see these creatures as nothing more than a resource with which they can make money. Thousands of supernatural's pass through the black market, some dead, dissected for scientific reasons, or just used as trophies. Other alive, kept as ‘unusual pets’ or slaves. The Nahash, the biggest preternatural dealers, are normally at the centre of this cruel activity.

And then we come to the biggest threat to the creatures of our world.
The DPA (department of preternatural activity) fight daily to keep us in the darkness, to protect us from our worst nightmares. A global organisation, funded by the world’s governments, their job is to keep the ‘threat’ at bay, to keep the delicate order of human lives. It is with them this war has been fought with. With them that the war begins.

Tensions have grown, particularly with a group of vampires known as the Chthons. Battles have been fought right under our noses, bloodshed on both sides. The Chthons have had enough, they are fed up with hiding, Why should they hide so a greedy race such as the humans can destroy the home we call Earth? Enough was enough, it was time to reveal the truth, reveal what has been buried for centuries.

The Chthons have created a new race, with the help of the Nahash. A hybrid of lycan and vampire blood. Eight feet tall, veracious and almost impossible to control or kill; the Chthons launched their new weapons against the DPA, wiping out many of their bases, killing thousands of soldiers. Then they turned their eyes to every major city.

Thousands of these creatures have descended upon us, rampaging through our streets killing at will, the vampires trailing behind them, picking of the few survivors. The Chthons believe it is time that humans were taught a lesson, time they were forced into hiding while the rest of the supernatural’s life in peace...

And they are not alone.
