Age: 38
Race: Human
Occupation: Commander of First Response Team
Allegiance: DPA
Appearance: Sadie has long dark, wavy hair which is almost always tied up out of her face. When it is down it fall just past her shoulders, though this is a rare sight. Standing at 5’7” she holds herself with pride and her years of combat show through her toned an well muscled body. She bares a few scars from battle, and she can name the person or creature that gave her each one.
Sadie is almost never out of her uniform, her combats, tank top and shirt bearing the DPA logo is about as exciting as her wardrobe gets. On the odd occasion that she does dress down she is in jeans and low neck tops, normally and dark rich colours and even then, her combat boots are on her feet.
Personality: Sadie is a woman of duty, she is cool and collected under military pressure and she can make snap decisions, without worrying too much about the consequences. She is the sort of person who goes out to get the job done and will not come back until it is. Hot headed and stubborn she is often the source of frustration for her superiors whose continuing attempts to tame her ‘shoot first ask questions later’ attitude fail, her tendency to bend the rules to get a job done do not help this.
On a personal level, Sadie is a closed book. She is very much one of the lads and takes great pleasure in winding up other soldiers and playing practical jokes. Beyond this however, few people see what she is really like. Faced with an emotional situation she is completely useless, sympathy is not in her vocabulary and it wouldn’t be wise to ask for advice on anything. If you do get past the many walls she has built up around herself you will find a kind and surprisingly sensitive person, that will go out of her way to protect her friends and her men.
History: Born in Kent, England, Sadie had a rough time at home. Her father was in the Army and opted to go on as many away missions as possible, he was a dedicated soldier but this was not his only reasons for being away so much. Sadie’s mother Joan, was an alcoholic, Sadie would often come home from school to find her passed out on the floor an empty bottle of vodka in her hand. It was days like this that Sadie actually like her mother. The days when her face was peaceful and she was quiet. The other days, she berated and screamed blue murder at Sadie, her verbal abuse would often become physical too. It is because of this, that Sadie has built such a tough exterior.
Her relationship with her father couldn’ be more different. Saide would count down the days till he was home and he would take her out, often to the shooting range where he would teach her to shoot a wide variety of guns. She was recognised there for her keen eye and steady hand and they offered the young girl he own membership, and when her father was away it would become her haunting ground, her sanctuary away from home. She would spend hours on end listening to his stories about the wars he’d been fighting and would cry for hours when he left again. She dote upon her father and looked up to him, dreaming always of joining the army like him and becoming one of the queen’s soldiers.
She finished school with average grades and signed up at 16 with her father’s permission and full support. Though she was a hot head, and often in trouble with her superiors she rose rapidly through the ranks, her natural strategic ability and sharpshooting ability’s made her rough edges seem smooth and by the tm she was 25 she had reached the rank of Lieutenant, with a reputation for getting the job done no matter what the circumstances.
Sadie loved the army, she loved the life, the people she worked with and for the first tim she felt at home with the people she was with. When she was 30 her father was killed on a search and destroy mission in Iraq. Devastated and at a complete loss as to how to deal with it Sadie hit the bottle and was signed off on compassionate leave which led her to the place she had spent so long avoiding. Home. Her mother was waiting when she got there, years of abuse stacked up and ready to spew at Sadie. The row between them lasted a good few hours before Sadie turned her heel and never looked back, vowing never to use alcohol to solve her problems again, refusing to become the woman she hated.
Returning back to work after two weeks, Sadie threw herself into it, refusing to allow anything to stand in the way of her missions. Her sudden recklessness and willingness to take risks caught the eye of the DPA and she was offered a position with their team based in the Brecon Beacons. Unable to resist the temptation of a new world Sadie accepted and discovered a world that changed her outlook forever.
Working for the DPA ever since, Sadie continued her climb through the ranks reaching the rank of Major after 6 years, and becoming the huge team’s Commander. Her year as Commander was a tough one and she had to learn quickly how to deal with various situations from low morale to discord among the men. As she was reaching the end of her first year as Commander, the base in the Brecon Beacon was one of the first to fall under attack from the hybrids. Of the eight hundred men Sadie commanded, only two hundred escaped.
Devasted, but with no time to grieve over the loss, the few men that survived the attack were quickly distributed among the remaining DPA forces, some to hidden training centres, others to protect the government. Sadie was placed in charge of the response. A team put together by DPA command to be the first on site of an attack, their job to hold off and deal with as many enemies as possible before reinforcements arrived. Reinforcements are few and far between these days, and her team of 30 men are beginning to show signs of weariness and desertion.
